Q1 In reviewing upcoming conferences, I have noticed that the ACSA conference in San Jose and ASAP's Fall conference in Santa Clara, are both during Nov. 2-4. Last year the AEP Summit was also during this same time period. Do you have the dates for AEP Summit 2017? Due to the high volume of conferences in the fall, AEP TAP will be hosting the summit in early 2018 - hopefully, mid-to-late January. As soon as the dates are finalized (which will be soon), we will include an announcement in the newsletter, as well as on the website.

Q2 What are the dates for the AEP Summit this year?

A Consortium Director/Chair Only event is scheduled for October 12-13 in Sacramento. The larger AEP Summit is being worked on and is tentatively scheduled for January 22-23, 2018. Location TBA. More details out later this fall.

Q3 I am wondering if there will be a 2017 AEP Annual Summit.

The Consortium Director/Chair Only event is scheduled for October 12-13 in Sacramento. The larger AEP Summit is being worked on and is tentatively scheduled for January 22-23 in Universal City, CA. More details will be coming on that event in the next couple months.

Q5 Do you have a link for the Consortium Director Event on 10/12 & 10/13 up yet? And should we go ahead and make reservations? What time on the morning of the 12th will we start?

The dates are set for October 12 and October 13, 2017. The registration link will be up in the next day or two.

For your information, the event registration (sign in) begins at 11:00 am on the 12th of October. We will have a lunch ready and the Welcome begins at Noon. Thursday continues with activities through 5:00 pm. There is a networking/social from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. The event on Friday starts at 8:30 am, includes a working lunch and we hope to wrap up by 3:30 pm.
The completed registration will send you a link to reserve the hotel room. Look for an invite to register. We will send an eblast to make sure everyone looks for the email invite. The reason for the email invite is limited space. Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you would like further explanation.

Q6 We are changing the way our consortium operates (i.e. more direct AEP support at the member level). Accordingly, our consortium management will not just be by one person anymore, but we will have an AEP person for each of our two main members. So I have two things: 1. The Napa Valley College dedicated AEP person is Christina Rivera, CRivera@napavalley.edu - I'd like to get her on the consortia contact list. Can you add her or is there someone else who should do that? 2. For the Consortium event on Oct 12-13, can we get a second spot accordingly (i.e. can you send a password to her)? I signed myself up for now but it is essential that we have a space for the other AEP person. If there is only 1 spot per consortium, please let me know so we can figure out how to make this work.

We are limited in space to 100 at the event. 71 consortia – so it would be impossible for multiple attendees. If your consortium structure has changed and you have co-chairs – that would allow you to bring an additional person – however – it would have to be a board approved structure – not just a way to get an extra person into the conference.

Q7 Attached you’ll find a request to approve out of state travel to the annual COABE conference, which will be in Phoenix, Arizona this year. Our Adult School would like to send a team of three people to the conference. Travel for member districts was included in our annual plan and budget, which was approved at a public meeting.

Approved. Does the consortium plan to send anyone else to COABE? AEP TAP will be coordinating some PD when people return – maybe even a webinar on the COABE event. So remind these attendees they may have to be part of a COABE webinar after they return.

Q8 I recall in the past seeing that CAEP had developed a resource to orient new consortium member employees to CAEP and the big picture of adult education in CA. However, I can't seem to find that resource on the website. Can you please direct me to where it can be found?
