The Response

Cutler-Orosi Adult School will increase completion rates by 25% as compared to 2023-2024 school year.

The Unique Features of the Program

The Cutler-Orosi Adult School (COAS) serves the rural communities of Cutler, Orosi, Yettem, and Badger. These towns represent the largest unincorporated communities in Tulare County. The community served is home to primarily new immigrant families, with over 50% of the population working in agriculture-related jobs in the fields or packing houses. Cutler-Orosi is confronted by poverty, geographic isolation, and low levels of parental education, in combination with gang involvement, and minimal public transportation. Despite these challenges, COAS maintains high expectations for staff and all students and believes that a quality education can overcome any barriers to realizing their full potential.

COAS strives to offer very low to no cost for courses. In addition, the site goes to great lengths to offer programs in town so to eliminate transportation as a barrier.

The Outcome

Cutler-Orosi offered the following career preparation courses and training the 2024-2025 school year:
-Truck Driving
-CNA
-Janitorial
-Forklift Training/Cert.
-Construction Trades
-Paraprofessional
-Digital Literacy Skills
