The Program of Practice

Adult Schools in our region face many barriers and obstacles accessing industrial training that is related to identified workforce needs. The need for high-quality low-cost training is the basis for our pathway development. This program will provide training in several identified areas in the logistics, industrial maintenance and manufacturing sectors, with wraparound supports providing financial assistance, and transition services.

The Response

Manteca Education Center created the LIMM Pathway (Logistics-Forklift Certification, Industrial Maintenance- Fundamental of Electricity, and Industrial Manufacturing- Welding and Fabrication. This pathway design was a collaborative effort with Industry and employer partners beginning in the fall of 2022 with full implementation in the fall of 2024.

The Unique Features of the Program

The LIMM Pathway is unique in many ways. The program has been developed from the ground up by a collaboration of area stakeholders including workforce development agencies (WorkNet), industry partnerships, employers in the trades, and education agencies proving valuable input in the creating and deliver models, It targets specific skills areas desired by the industry. This process was identified as "ONE " program to equally represent all stakeholders and their commitment to our work.
Courses are equally structured to provide industry certificate-based instruction, paired with valuable hands-on training. Courses are supported by providing contextualized English embedded for English Language Learners. All training courses are structure to provide pathways to further advanced training, employment, or college. Additionally, OSHA certification is included in each course's pathway. The program was designed to be short training courses in all of the LIMM pathways, ranging from 17 days(forklift) to 16 weeks (industrial maintenance and manufacturing. As part of the pathway all students are exposed to college/industry tour and "What's Next" as they transition out of our program.

The Outcome

The Program has been an enormous success with 297 students enrolled overall. 104 students were enrolled in Forklift Certification with a completion rate of over 90%, 122 students enrolled in Welding Training courses, 36 in Fundamental of Electricity and 35 in industrial maintenance, all receiving one or more certifications.
